{"id":2714,"date":"2013-04-23T08:29:25","date_gmt":"2013-04-23T13:29:25","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/cgayling.com\/malmaxa\/?p=2714"},"modified":"2013-04-23T08:29:25","modified_gmt":"2013-04-23T13:29:25","slug":"julias-essay-to-her-dad","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/cgayling.com\/malmaxa\/poetry\/julias-essay-to-her-dad\/","title":{"rendered":"Julia&#8217;s essay to her dad."},"content":{"rendered":"<p>My much loved youngest daughter Julia casually left a note on my desk last night. \u00a0She never told me what it was, and placed it on a pile of other papers without even saying she did.\u00a0 Although I noticed it last night, it didn\u2019t register and thus I only got around to reading it this morning.\u00a0 It is so special I thought I\u2019d share it with you.<\/p>\n<p>As any can see, Julia writes with a poetic cadence, so allow a proud father poetic liberty to transform her words into poetic form.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><em>~<\/em><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><em>thank you father<\/em><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><em>to my father I owe many things,<\/em><br \/>\n<em> from this man I have gained roots and wing<\/em><br \/>\n<em> I can now stand on my own<\/em><br \/>\n<em> like the mighty oke I have <del>follow<\/del> shadowed.<\/em><br \/>\n<em> Thank you father for holding me high anoth to see the word<\/em><br \/>\n<em> but not to shadow me from it.<\/em><br \/>\n<em> With the roots I hold myself<\/em><br \/>\n<em> and with these wings I wrap myself and other<\/em><br \/>\n<em> to protect me from the flams of the hell of life<\/em><br \/>\n<em> and to myself I always sing:<\/em><br \/>\n<em> my father gave me roots and gave me wing,<\/em><br \/>\n<em> now I must learn to fly without leaving the ground.<\/em><br \/>\n<em> Show the world that I know how.<\/em><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><em>~<\/em><\/p>\n<p>The text below, is how it arrived with apparent errors intact.<br \/>\n~<br \/>\nthank you father<br \/>\nto my father I owe many things, from this man I have gained roots and wing I can now stand on my own like the mighty oke I have follow shadowed.
