{"id":3850,"date":"2014-05-14T08:06:51","date_gmt":"2014-05-14T13:06:51","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/cgayling.com\/malmaxa\/?p=3850"},"modified":"2014-05-14T08:06:51","modified_gmt":"2014-05-14T13:06:51","slug":"loves-numbers","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/cgayling.com\/malmaxa\/poetry\/loves-numbers\/","title":{"rendered":"Love&#8217;s Numbers."},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><em>~ <strong>Love&#8217;s Numbers<\/strong> ~<\/em><br \/>\n<em> ~<\/em><br \/>\n<em> What matters it to you,<\/em><br \/>\n<em> if I don\u2019t love one, but two?<\/em><br \/>\n<em> And what matters it to me,<\/em><br \/>\n<em> if you don\u2019t love two, but three?<\/em><br \/>\n<em> Should it matter still more,<\/em><br \/>\n<em> if we don\u2019t love four, but ten-score?<\/em><br \/>\n<em> Or could love\u2019s true number be five,<\/em><br \/>\n<em> is this the number for which we should strive?<\/em><br \/>\n<em> Father, mother, sister, brother, and spouse&#8230;<\/em><br \/>\n<em> Yet this leaves no room for our children,<\/em><br \/>\n<em> thus this number would make us&#8230; a louse.<\/em><br \/>\n<em> So perhaps love\u2019s true number is six?<\/em><br \/>\n<em> No! No more of these numbering tricks.<\/em><br \/>\n<em> Numbers and numbers that climb,<\/em><br \/>\n<em> but what when these numbers decline?<\/em><br \/>\n<em> Love isn\u2019t about numbers at all,<\/em><br \/>\n<em> love is the song of a passionate call.<\/em><br \/>\n<em> One doesn\u2019t take love from their brother,<\/em><br \/>\n<em> in order to grant said love to another.<\/em><br \/>\n<em> Yet Love always matters my friend\u2026<\/em><br \/>\n<em> ~<\/em><br \/>\n<em> Especially,<\/em><br \/>\n<em> when we fear<\/em><br \/>\n<em> that, for us,<\/em><br \/>\n<em> love might<\/em><br \/>\n<em> &#8230;end&#8230;<\/em><br \/>\n<em> ~<\/em><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">Love is such an inadequate word isn&#8217;t it?<\/p>\n<p>Love comes in so many shapes and forms, each unique. Love is never the same, it should never be cause for blame, though sometimes it seems to be cause for shame. Love is not a structured, demarcated thing, yet we are continually compelled to make it so.<\/p>\n<p>Society, in my mind the source of blame for so many things, tells us <a title=\"dare you love, the same?\" href=\"https:\/\/cgayling.com\/malmaxa\/2013\/03\/same-sex-marriage\/\">how<\/a> and who we should love. Society demands that we love some people unconditionally, while placing innumerable, unspoken conditions on how we love others. The organized religions approved by society dare to impose laws on love&#8217;s ultimate commitment, namely <a title=\"commitment? only under certain, proscribed circumstances\" href=\"https:\/\/cgayling.com\/malmaxa\/2012\/12\/marriage-a-words-meaning\/\">marriage<\/a>. When it comes to love, all society and religion seem to do is confuse. Do they not understand that love is the one thing the world needs in excess?<\/p>\n<p>Love is incredibly important to me. I truly believe it improves lives.
