We all have it, believers and atheists alike. \u201cBut I don\u2019t believe!\u201d\u00a0 I hear the atheist assert.\u00a0 Of course you do\u2026 yet your belief is in the lack.\u00a0 A quandary, no?<\/p>\n<p>Before I alienate everyone {a skill I hold in abundance, and abundant esteem}, let me share a tweet revealing some of me.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"500\" data-dnt=\"true\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">If I am anything, I am a Believer \u2013 in Logic, Love, Nature, Karma, the Spirit-[]-Soul, Fate, and the Immutable Laws of Physics.<\/p>\n<p>&mdash; C.G.Ayling (@CGAyling) <a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/CGAyling\/status\/257188650108977153?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">October 13, 2012<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><script async src=\"https:\/\/platform.x.com\/widgets.js\" charset=\"utf-8\"><\/script><\/p>\n<p>Since WordPress embeds sometimes fail, this is what I said \u201c<strong><em>If I am anything, I am a Believer \u2013 in Logic, Love, Nature, Karma, the Spirit-[]-Soul, Fate, and the Immutable Laws of Physics.<\/em><\/strong>\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Every word of that is truth, as I see it.\u00a0 I don\u2019t hold you to any of those things, indeed I hope your beliefs differ greatly from my own. After all, isn\u2019t diversity vital to the well-being of any species?<\/p>\n<p>Some will be tempted to tear at my words, in vain I warn, for each element have I long considered.\u00a0 Each word upon a platform sits, and before it do I bow. \u00a0Each, is truth, to me.\u00a0 Yet how can this be? Does not Logic defy Fate, it does. Are the Immutable Laws of Physics, mutable?\u00a0 They are not {of course, there are exceptions to all absolutes}, thus they place themselves at odds with Karma.\u00a0 But I <strong><em>believe<\/em><\/strong> in both. Each alone, and each in contradiction.\u00a0 Note well that Logic leads my list, it is foremost in a group of equals.<\/p>\n<p>Perhaps it might be easier to explain things in matters of Disbelief.\u00a0 Very well, here goes.<\/p>\n<p>I don\u2019t believe in either <strong><em>Religious Creationism<\/em><\/strong>, or <strong><em>Evolution<\/em><\/strong>.\u00a0 Allow me opportunity to explain my position on these.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Religious Creationism<\/strong>. \u00a0The only form of Creationism I accept is that I, in conjunction with my wife, have created four progeny.\u00a0 For each I take both the Glory and the Blame, as does my wife.\u00a0 They are our ultimate, and our only tangible Creations. Everything else was there before, and could as easily have come from the hands, hearts, or loins of any other. \u00a0Our children?\u00a0 They could come from naught save our union, thus we did indeed create them. \u00a0Not in our image, I am most pleased to say.\u00a0 Though their genes might be derived, their <em>Character<\/em> is their own.\u00a0 As to Religious Creationism\u2026 well, if we were created, then what created our creator, and what demands we subjugate our souls before whatever it was that created us?\u00a0 Surely, if we\u2019re really smart, we\u2019d worship the creator of our creator?\u00a0 No, wait!\u00a0 Make that the creator of our creator\u2019s creator.\u00a0 See where this is leading? A circular path with no end, and no point.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Evolution<\/strong>.\u00a0 As generally taught, is an unproven theory stated as a fact, and accepted by many as such. How many graphs and pretty pictures have I seen allegedly revealing the smooth, gradual transformation of one species into another?\u00a0 Many.\u00a0 Yet I remain utterly unconvinced. \u00a0Logic asserts Evolution\u2019s truth with seductive words \u201c\u2026it must be so, everyone agrees, simply accept it\u2026\u201d \u00a0Then Logic defies itself by demanding hard, irrefutable evidence \u2013 evidence which is sorely lacking, unless accepted with huge leaps of faith to surmount the gaps in evolution\u2019s chains.\u00a0 Evolution as it is taught, a smooth transition from one species into another, demands acceptance, not on verifiable evidence, but on faith.\u00a0 All the brightest say it\u2019s so, so who am I, to go against this flow?\u00a0 Startling.\u00a0 Isn\u2019t that precisely what organized religion demands?\u00a0 And there are just as many highly esteemed people on that side of this issue.<\/p>\n<p>Religious Creationism, and Evolution are irreconcilable opposites.\u00a0 If you think they\u2019re the only choices, then take your pick.\u00a0 Personally, I choose neither.<\/p>\n<p>The human need for understanding drives the need for \u201cBelief\u201d.\u00a0 Our nature demands we understand how things are, what caused them, and what will ultimately result from them.\u00a0 When faced with something we cannot assimilate, we lose our capability for reason and accept whatever the majority of our fellows have accepted.\u00a0 This, is probably a species imperative.\u00a0 If the majority accept it, and they\u2019re alive the they\u2019ve found a path to safety therefore they must be right.\u00a0 Both Religious Creationism and Evolution fall into this deceptive category.<\/p>\n<p>So, what do I really believe {do you truly care, why thank you :)}?\u00a0 Though I told you earlier, I\u2019ll phrase it in different words a second time.\u00a0 I believe in choice, contradiction, and inevitable change.\u00a0 I long for the day a logical argument contradicts me, changes my mind, and displaces Logic as the foremost concept to which I grant my obeisance.<\/p>\n<p>I hope you\u2019ve enjoyed this post. \u00a0If so, please re-tweet it {there might be a link at the top of the post}, let\u2019s meet in the twitterverse and walk alongside one another for a time.\u00a0 Who knows, we might find the One True Path, amongst the many\u2026<\/p>\n<p>Meanwhile, if you desire further food for thought, consider reading more of my {slightly} deeper thoughts, framed in literature as lyrical as I am able.\u00a0 I\u2019ve published a series, to which I\u2019ve assigned an entirely new genre {I never claimed to lack Arrogance} \u2013 namely, Philosophy, couched as Fantasy.\u00a0 <a title=\"...a generous sample, of a bitter potion...\" href=\"https:\/\/cgayling.com\/malmaxa\/samples\/\">The journey into hidden thoughts, difficult choices, and metaphor begins here<\/a>.
