Prompted by the anguish and encouragement of some exceptionally special people on Twitter.<br \/>\nForgive the raw nature, perhaps I&#8217;ll &#8220;clean&#8221; it up.\u00a0 Perhaps, I&#8217;ll not. {I did, and will likely do again.}<\/p>\n<h2 style=\"text-align: center;\"><em><strong>Mortality\u2019s short, sweet kiss&#8230;<\/strong><br \/>\n<\/em><\/h2>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><em>Morrow comes, heralding new dawn,<\/em><br \/>\n<em> upon that day, will joy be born.<\/em><br \/>\n<em> Patiently, must we wait,<\/em><br \/>\n<em> We\u2019ll know the time, won\u2019t hesitate.<\/em><br \/>\n<em> With both hands spread open wide,<\/em><br \/>\n<em> We slow our fall, down terror\u2019s slide.<\/em><br \/>\n<em> ~<\/em><br \/>\n<em> An angel, trapped in mortal form,<\/em><br \/>\n<em> filled, with anger, and disdain,<\/em><br \/>\n<em> Though silenced is her voice,<\/em><br \/>\n<em> her soul, untamed, remains.<\/em><br \/>\n<em> Into deepest dark of night,<\/em><br \/>\n<em> she turns her ever seeking eye,<\/em><br \/>\n<em> and there, upon sunrise\u2019s glow,<\/em><br \/>\n<em> her hope, as a planted seed, doth sow.<\/em><br \/>\n<em> ~<\/em><br \/>\n<em> Not coin, nor gold,<\/em><br \/>\n<em> will purchase passage from this mortal realm,<\/em><br \/>\n<em> into eternities, untold.<\/em><br \/>\n<em> For the trip to there,<\/em><br \/>\n<em> the price is set&#8230; in anguish.<\/em><br \/>\n<em> Do all you can, while trapped here.<\/em><br \/>\n<em> Secure&#8230; your own immortal soul.<\/em><br \/>\n<em> ~<\/em><br \/>\n<em> Summer\u2019s heat, through winter\u2019s cold<\/em><br \/>\n<em> An endless cycle, for the bold.<\/em><br \/>\n<em> Set your weary feet,<\/em><br \/>\n<em> Upon the path,<\/em><br \/>\n<em> toward the final goal&#8230;<\/em><br \/>\n<em> Escape&#8230; for each immortal soul.<\/em><br \/>\n<em> ~<\/em><br \/>\n<em> From four corners,<\/em><br \/>\n<em> east, and west,<\/em><br \/>\n<em> the titans of this world contest.<\/em><br \/>\n<em> North, and south,<\/em><br \/>\n<em> the winds do blow,<\/em><br \/>\n<em> freezing rain, before the snow<\/em><br \/>\n<em> that chills&#8230; my immortal soul.<\/em><br \/>\n<em> ~<\/em><br \/>\n<em> Though our fragile bodies,<\/em><br \/>\n<em> the titans hold in thrall,<\/em><br \/>\n<em> our souls, escape their clammy grasp.<\/em><br \/>\n<em> Till, finally&#8230; we turn.<\/em><br \/>\n<em> Behold, the Asp.<\/em><br \/>\n<em> Our demise, through venom\u2019s fang?<\/em><br \/>\n<em> Or our escape, to destiny,<\/em><br \/>\n<em> as ageless legends sang?<\/em><br \/>\n<em> Through that path, so filled with pain,<\/em><br \/>\n<em> must we venture, once again,<\/em><br \/>\n<em> for at its end, does lie&#8230; our gain.<\/em><br \/>\n<em> ~<\/em><br \/>\n<em> Into cold, slit eyes we stare,<\/em><br \/>\n<em> the Asp, its fangs, doth turn, and bare.<\/em><br \/>\n<em> Its promise?<\/em><br \/>\n<em> With us, Eternity to share.<\/em><br \/>\n<em> Upon those ivory tips,<\/em><br \/>\n<em> so sharp,<\/em><br \/>\n<em> do form two drops, two drips,<\/em><br \/>\n<em> two promises&#8230; held true.<\/em><br \/>\n<em> My soul&#8217;s release&#8230; from me, to you.<\/em><br \/>\n<em> ~<\/em><br \/>\n<em> Into these gleaming gems,<\/em><br \/>\n<em> we cast our eye.<\/em><br \/>\n<em> Behold, our fate,<\/em><br \/>\n<em> to do&#8230; and die.<\/em><br \/>\n<em> ~<\/em><br \/>\n<em> Into venom we turn, and dive.<\/em><br \/>\n<em> Within their pain, we won&#8217;t survive.<\/em><br \/>\n<em> They promise us release&#8230;<\/em><br \/>\n<em> and bliss&#8230;<\/em><br \/>\n<em> our freedom&#8230;<\/em><br \/>\n<em> from mortality\u2019s short, sweet kiss.<\/em><br \/>\n<em> ~<\/em><\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"500\" data-dnt=\"true\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">That poem is not an exhortation to death.
