{"id":2811,"date":"2013-06-16T13:42:47","date_gmt":"2013-06-16T18:42:47","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/cgayling.com\/malmaxa\/?p=2811"},"modified":"2013-06-16T13:42:47","modified_gmt":"2013-06-16T18:42:47","slug":"fathers-day-2013","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/cgayling.com\/malmaxa\/general\/fathers-day-2013\/","title":{"rendered":"Father&#8217;s Day, 2013"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Happy Father&#8217;s Day to every father, and for the men not yet fathers, may you one day know the joy of comforting a tiny part of you as your own child lies within your cradling arms.<\/p>\n<p>My Father&#8217;s day began poorly, but has since improved. I&#8217;m working on a blog post about Post Traumatic Stress Disorder, and while that is in progress, for publication later today, I thought I&#8217;d share my Father&#8217;s Day gifts with any who care to read them.<\/p>\n<p>My favorite eldest daughter, Tamryn, mother of our only grandchild, Eden, is engaged in making her husband&#8217;s Father&#8217;s Day the special day it should be, yet she still took time to text me a Father&#8217;s Day wish. &#8220;A text&#8221;, you say?\u00a0 Yes, and special it is, because like me, Tamryn doesn&#8217;t embrace texting as a preferred form of communication &#8211; which makes a text from her, well&#8230; special.<\/p>\n<p>From my favorite middle daughter, Dannielle.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"500\" data-dnt=\"true\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\"><a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/CGAyling?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">@CGAyling<\/a> He&#39;s brilliant, witty (at least he thinks so), selfless, an amazing author and everything he does is for his family. Iloveyou Dad!<\/h6>\n<p>My favorite, and only, son is away at a wrestling camp, however he wished me Happy Father&#8217;s Day before he left yesterday, along with a hug, gratefully received.<\/p>\n<p>From my favorite youngest daughter, Julia, I received a haiku &#8211; her first ever and all the more special for that, along with a poem. I reproduce them both, below.<\/p>\n<h2>Julia&#8217;s Haiku<\/h2>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><em>As well as samurai<\/em><br \/>\n<em> I write this haiku today<\/em><br \/>\n<em> For the din of man.<\/em><br \/>\n<em> ~<\/em><\/p>\n<h2>Julia&#8217;s Poem<\/h2>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong><em>Father father<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><em>Father father hear my cry,<\/em><br \/>\n<em> A cry that bears resemblance to yours.<\/em><br \/>\n<em> A cry that shows we care and that we love too strongly,<\/em><br \/>\n<em> the cry of the bull headed manner we use.<\/em><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><em>Father father see my scratches and battle scars,<\/em><br \/>\n<em> These show my efforts to change a stone world,<\/em><br \/>\n<em> and scratch at my very being.<\/em><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><em>Father father I see your weather worn face.<\/em><br \/>\n<em> I see the spark that Has gone out in your eyes,<\/em><br \/>\n<em> This must once have been a roaring fire.<\/em><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><em>Father father I now know that you simply survive<\/em><br \/>\n<em> but father father I will live on in your name<\/em><br \/>\n<em> and I will hold close to me what is dear to you.<\/em><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><em>And for that Father Father<br \/>\nI thank you.<\/em><br \/>\n~<\/p>\n<p>{PS.
