{"id":4572,"date":"2015-05-17T10:36:22","date_gmt":"2015-05-17T15:36:22","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/cgayling.com\/malmaxa\/?p=4572"},"modified":"2015-05-17T10:36:22","modified_gmt":"2015-05-17T15:36:22","slug":"wealths-poverty","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/cgayling.com\/malmaxa\/heavy-stuff\/wealths-poverty\/","title":{"rendered":"Wealth&#8217;s Poverty"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><em>~ <strong>Wealth&#8217;s Poverty<\/strong> ~<\/em><br \/>\n<em> ~<\/em><br \/>\n<em> We lie atop the sacrificial slab,<\/em><br \/>\n<em> and with our quill,<\/em><br \/>\n<em> our heart we stab,<\/em><br \/>\n<em> blood words upon our skin we scribe.<\/em><br \/>\n<em> Our hope?<\/em><br \/>\n<em> That others those blood wrought words<\/em><br \/>\n<em> will read,<\/em><br \/>\n<em> and from spiritual poverty<\/em><br \/>\n<em> be freed.<\/em><br \/>\n<em> ~<\/em><br \/>\n<em> The goal of every word<\/em><br \/>\n<em> we write?<\/em><br \/>\n<em> To free another from<\/em><br \/>\n<em> our plight.<\/em><br \/>\n<em> Our truths we see, we say,<\/em><br \/>\n<em> and for our truths<\/em><br \/>\n<em> we&#8217;ll fight,<\/em><br \/>\n<em> and from darkness,<\/em><br \/>\n<em> the willing<\/em><br \/>\n<em> we will<\/em><br \/>\n<em> drag<\/em><br \/>\n<em> to light.<\/em><br \/>\n<em> ~<\/em><br \/>\n<em> In the shadows do the wicked dwell,<\/em><br \/>\n<em> from whence the poor,<\/em><br \/>\n<em> with false hopes cast as arrows,<\/em><br \/>\n<em> they fell.<\/em><br \/>\n<em> With mistruth they bind the masses,<\/em><br \/>\n<em> spreading hopes of salvation,<\/em><br \/>\n<em> which they buy,<\/em><br \/>\n<em> then tell.<\/em><br \/>\n<em> Lottery promises of escape from poverty,<\/em><br \/>\n<em> they sell.<\/em><br \/>\n<em> Hopes, of freedom from this<\/em><br \/>\n<em> mortal hell.<\/em><br \/>\n<em> ~<\/em><br \/>\n<em> A piece of soul-scribed skin,<\/em><br \/>\n<em> from our flesh they flay,<\/em><br \/>\n<em> a map they intend to use,<\/em><br \/>\n<em> to help them find their forgotten way.<\/em><br \/>\n<em> ~<\/em><br \/>\n<em> We won\u2019t beg, or plead for the wealthy<\/em><br \/>\n<em> to stay.<\/em><br \/>\n<em> You see,<\/em><br \/>\n<em> our stolen words do the rich mislead,<\/em><br \/>\n<em> for though salvation&#8217;s map is true,<\/em><br \/>\n<em> the needle-eyed gate is one<\/em><br \/>\n<em> which rich thieves will never<\/em><br \/>\n<em> pass through.<\/em><br \/>\n<em> ~<\/em><br \/>\n<em> Peaks of luxury do the wealthy climb,<\/em><br \/>\n<em> while down below their workers wade in slime.<\/em><br \/>\n<em> With no excess sufficient to their unsated greed,<\/em><br \/>\n<em> they\u2019ve let this world slide and slip to seed.<\/em><br \/>\n<em> Loud do they their lying anthem proclaim,<\/em><br \/>\n<em> \u201cThere will always be the needy!<\/em><br \/>\n<em> So let them toil and bleed<\/em><br \/>\n<em> while upon their labors,<\/em><br \/>\n<em> we,<\/em><br \/>\n<em> the wealthy,<\/em><br \/>\n<em> feed.\u201d<\/em><br \/>\n<em> ~<\/em><br \/>\n<em> And yet unshuttered eyes easily do see,<\/em><br \/>\n<em> the rich have finally gone insane\u2026<\/em><br \/>\n<em> Their mad intent?<\/em><br \/>\n<em> To keep this broken world,<\/em><br \/>\n<em> the same.<\/em><br \/>\n<em> ~<\/em><br \/>\n<em> For their obscene wealth,<\/em><br \/>\n<em> the rich feel no shame,<\/em><br \/>\n<em> and on the burdened shoulders of the poor,<\/em><br \/>\n<em> heap they all blame.<\/em><br \/>\n<em> ~<\/em><br \/>\n<em> Unwanted garments from their shoulders slough,<\/em><br \/>\n<em> gourmet delights uneaten,<\/em><br \/>\n<em> left to rot,<\/em><br \/>\n<em> till from their banquet tables,<\/em><br \/>\n<em> once good food falls with a putrid<\/em><br \/>\n<em> plop,<\/em><br \/>\n<em> sustenance they\u2019ve let turn into<\/em><br \/>\n<em> slop,<\/em><br \/>\n<em> while from hunger<\/em><br \/>\n<em> they let the poverty stricken<\/em><br \/>\n<em> drop.<\/em><br \/>\n<em> ~<\/em><br \/>\n<em> When will we,<\/em><br \/>\n<em> the victims of wealth&#8217;s poverty,<\/em><br \/>\n<em> from our indentured slavery<\/em><br \/>\n<em> turn, not flee?<\/em><br \/>\n<em>~<\/em><br \/>\n<em> I fear<\/em><br \/>\n<em> not soon<\/em><br \/>\n<em> enough\u2026<\/em><br \/>\n<em> ~<\/em><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>~ Wealth&#8217;s Poverty ~ ~ We lie atop the sacrificial slab, and with our quill, our heart we stab, blood words upon our skin we scribe.
